EXPLORE ECUADOR & THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS!
Overseas trip for Juniors and Seniors, Spring Break 2011
The Pine School is planning a trip to beautiful Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, exclusively for Pine School Juniors and Seniors, for Spring Break 2011.
Included in the first portion of the trip will be a visit to the capital city, Quito, as well as side trips to the famous market town of Otavalo nestled gently in the Andes Mountains, and the Middle of the World Monument at the equator. The second portion will include visits to several spectacular locations in the world famous Galapagos Islands! Finally, a stop in the coastal city of Guayaquil is also planned. Trip chaperones will be Mr. Gioffi and Ms. Cevallos.
This trip is offered to Pine School Juniors and Seniors only. Spaces are limited so if you would like to participate in this remarkable adventure in the real 'Middle Earth,' and would like to begin the eligibility process, send the following information by email to Mr. Gioffi

Eligibility criteria for students will be used to determine if the student will be able to join the group, and trip participants must have a U.S. passport that will be valid at least six months after the time of the trip. Spanish language ability is not a requirement but, a desire to explore, learn and exchange a bit of culture is - so don't delay!
Upper School Off-Campus Education Trips
Each student in the Upper School participates in an off campus learning adventure in the fall. Past programs have included exploration in the Everglades, immersion in inner-city New York as volunteers for a host of service agencies, an eco-trip to Costa Rica, and completing community service work both near and afar. Past service experiences have included working with Habitat for Humanity in Martin County and a Senior trip to New Orleans. The goals of the Off-Campus Education program include team building, personal challenge, problem solving, service, and environmental education.
The following trips are being planned for School Year 2010-2011:
12th Grade
Eco Service Trip to the Bahamas – In partnership with the Bahamian National Trust and Friends of the Environment, students will be challenged in a variety of environmental settings in Abaco. Service work will also be completed in conjunction with the Crossing Rocks School. Students will get a chance to explore the natural landscape and wildlife of the Bahamas.
11th Grade
Florida Service Trip – Partnering with Habitat for Humanity and Hobe Sound Elementary School, students will spend the week giving back to our local community. Overnight stays are planned in Indiantown and camp-outs on the Hobe Sound campus. A possible Habitat build in Orlando is being considered.
10th Grade
College Survival Trip - Showcasing institutions of higher education in the South, the theme of the trip is to immerse the students in college life by attending classes, eating on campus, meeting with real students, and following our own Scavenger Hunt and Survival Trek format through college campuses and towns. The week will end with an Atlanta Braves game.
9th Grade
Marine Science Trek – Starting with a kayak backcountry adventure of the Lower Florida Keys, students will spend three day at Newfound Harbor Marine Institute on Big Pine Key. While at NMHI, students will snorkel, wade, boat, and study with their instructors learning about Coral, Coastal,and Nearshore Ecology as well as a variety of Marine Life.
