Middle School (Grades 7 & 8)
The Middle School program, located on the Hobe Sound campus, allows students to explore and develop talents in academics, arts, athletics, leadership and community service. The academic courses offered at each grade level ensure rigorous challenges with unique opportunities for success.
Boys and girls in early adolescence have unique needs, and the Middle School faculty is sensitive to these needs. Each student has an Advisor to meet with regularly on academic matters and also on social and emotional issues of growth and development during adolescence. Students have many opportunities to exercise leadership, to participate in group projects, to enhance their presentation skills, and to fulfill their individual potential.
Students take part in Encore courses each trimester that give them choices within their academic program. They participate in sports and the arts; they pursue studies in Spanish or Chinese; and most importantly, they learn how to learn. Students are encouraged to understand and develop their individual learning strategies so that they are prepared for further academic study and for success in the dynamic world of the 21st century.
During the eighth grade, students participate in the Shadowship Program. They are matched with successful individuals in a field of choice in order to get first-hand experience of possible career options. Meeting with their advisors, they receive guidance that will set them on the road to high school achievement.
