The Pine School Athletic Gear
Athletics Overview
The Athletic Program emphasizes the value of physical activity, good sportsmanship, fitness for life, and the joy of athletic competition.
Beginning with the Early Learning Program, all students take part in classes taught by the Physical Education Department. In the Lower School, a skill development intramural program develops basic skills in Lacrosse, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cheerleading. Interscholastic competition begins in 5th Grade. Middle School and Upper School students are expected to participate in at least one sport during the year. Because of the "no cut" policy practiced by the school, all students have the opportunity to compete.
The Pine School has a fully developed interscholastic program. Teams include Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Cross Country, Golf, Tennis, Crew, Baseball, Softball, Sailing, Cheerleading, and Swimming. The Pine School is a member of the Treasure Coast Athletic Association and the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Students are rightly proud of the many banners that hang in the gym, testifying to the number of championship seasons that our school has enjoyed. It is equally important to The Pine School that every student who has played on any team has exemplified good sportsmanship and fair play while achieving victories in the athletic arena.

ATHLETICS IN 2010-2011
The following information provides you with the information necessary to plan for your student's participation in athletics.
1) Our High School teams will continue to play at the varsity level in FHSAA districts.
2) Our Middle School and 5th & 6th grade teams will continue to compete in the Treasure Coast Athletic Conference.
3) We will continue to do everything we can to enable all students who want to participate in a positive sports experience the chance to do so.
These things are part of an ongoing commitment by the school to make our athletic programs an exciting, fulfilling and enjoyable part of your students school experience. In return we are expecting a strong level of commitment to our athletic programs as part of the overall commitment each student has to their school. All students will be expected to participate in at least one sport per year. A full description of all the teams that will be offered next year is available.
FORMS THAT NEED TO BE COMPLETED
As members of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) we are under strict rules with regard to eligibility of athletes. All students 5th Grade and up must complete the forms:
- Pre-Participation Physical evaluation FORM EL2
- Consent and Release FORM EL3
These forms are mandatory and must be completed before your student is eligible to compete for our school there will be no exceptions to this rule.
The forms are available on the school's website, on RenWeb, and in the school's front office. Please return them to the school to the Athletic Director's attention as soon as possible. If your student will not be participating until the winter season you have until October to complete the forms but it still would be a good idea to get it done over the summer.
It is also a requirement of the FHSAA that for students to be eligible for athletics they must have achieved at least a 2.0 GPA in the previous semester in high school and have achieved satisfactory grades in middle school. In early August you will also receive a Student-Parent Athletic Handbook as part of the overall handbook. This handbook will include a lot of details about athletic policies and is available for download on the website.
